Lonely Christopher writes outside and across forms. His documents include poetry, fiction, dramatic work, and blog posts. He was born and raised in Western New York and has lived in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York for six years. He is the author of the short fiction collection The Mechanics of Homosexual Intercourse, which was a 2011 selection of Dennis Cooper's Little House on the Bowery imprint of Akashic Books; Publishers Weekly called it “provocative and refreshing.” With Robert Snyderman and Christopher Sweeney, he wrote the long-form verse collection Into (Seven CirclePress, 2010). His poetry has been collected in the chapbooks Satan (Small Anchor Press, 2007), Wow, Where Do You Come from, Upside-Down Land? (The Corresponding Society, 2009), Poems in June (The Corresponding Society, 2011) and Crush Dream (Radioactive Moat, 2012). The first two installments of his Gay Play trilogy were published by Small Anchor Press (2009) in a standard edition as well as a bilingual English/Mandarin edition (available in China). His writing has appeared in the anthologies Cityscapes Volume 2, Divining Divas: 100 Gay Men on Their Muses, The Physical Poets Home Library, SATANICA, The Sonnets: Translating & Rewriting Shakespeare, and Way of the Word. His stories and poems have appeared in publications such as Animal Farm, The Brooklyn Rail, The Fanzine, Fence, Maggy, Plain Wrap, Radioactive Moat, Supermachine, and Thumbnail. Lonely Christopher is a founding member of The Corresponding Society; he was its original blog manager and an editor of its literary journal Correspondence through issue three. He curated The Corresponding Society’s second series of chapbooks, “What Where,” including titles by Robert Fitterman and Anselm Berrigan. He is also a founding member of The Institutionalized Theater, a writer-based company in Brooklyn, and has written and directed many dramatic scenarios for the group. His original plays, including his Gay Play trilogy, have been produced in New York City and ChengDu, China. In 2008 he worked with playwright Mac Wellman on the production of his play 1965UU starring Paul Lazar. He has appeared in performance across the country, reading at venues such as Barnes & Noble, The Brooklyn Public Library, The Poetry Project, The Bowery Poetry Club, St Mark's Bookshop, Unnameable Books, The Cake Shop, Powell's, City Lights, Books Inc, Moe's Books, Book Soup, Giovanni's Room, the University of Pennsylvania, the Pratt Institute, Bennington College, and Harvard University. He has lectured or taught his own work to undergraduate and graduate students at The CUNY Graduate Center, The New School, California College of the Arts, and University of San Francisco. He recently wrote and directed his first feature film, MOM, for Cavazos Films, featuring Mink Stole (Pink Flamingos), Janet Hubert (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Paul Lazar (Silence of the Lambs), and Michael Potts (The Wire, The Book of Mormon).
